I find that both the visual elements and vocals in this video stunning. I have never listed to AURORA in the past but this video left me wanting more.
I find it a mix between narrative and conceptual. I say that because it has a lot of conceptual elements and the story isn't a physical story with a clear timeline. From viewing the video I believe it is about overcoming internal struggles, possibly multiple struggles? Maybe it’s about the ups and downs of life or a relationship? Finding a balance?
Regardless we see two similar figures. One clad in black the other in a light grey or white. We first see the girl in white as the Camera opens to a large body of water and pans up to see her standing on a large ladder coming out of the water. After her introduction we cut to the girl in black who seems to be distressed and in a pit or cavern of sorts. The girl in black finds a large black ladder and begins to climb out of the pit. The pit has a waterfall flowing through it; I include this detail because water plays a large part in the visual elements of this video.
We then see that these two figures are on the same ladder but are climbing in the opposite direction, when the two converge (2:52) it creates a very interesting element similar to Ying-Yang.
The close up shots on the Artists face made the video feel very personal while the vocals paired with fast cuts gave the video energy. The person making the cuts/editing definitely had the audio in mind while making the cuts. I also think that lighting and color aided in delivering the message and adding contrast between the two characters.
Ultimately I think different individuals will interoperate this video differently. I think it's about love and the ups/downs we can feel on the quest to feel loved and be loved.
